– The 19th Darvish Yu Water Fund project, Ensuring Sustainable Drinking Water Access through Rainwater Harvesting in Baharul Village, Naogaon District, Bangladesh, is now underway!
Baharul village, comprised of approximately 150 households with a population of around 800 people, faces an acute water crisis. For all domestic purposes other than drinking, families rely on ponds. Despite attempts to drill as deep as 300 feet, no reliable water source has been found. As a result, the community lacks a sustainable solution for safe drinking water, leaving the village in a state of severe vulnerability. The installation of rainwater harvesting systems(RWHS) in Baharul Village will significantly improve community resilience against water-related challenges. By reducing dependence on arsenic-contaminated shallow tube wells, households will gain reliable access to safe drinking water, leading to improved public health outcomes and reduced medical costs. Women and children will benefit from reduced time and effort needed for collecting water, enhancing opportunities for education and other activities. In addition to household use, stored rainwater will provide supplementary irrigation during seasonal droughts, supporting crop production and food security. This will strengthen climate resilience in one of Bangladesh’s most drought-prone regions.

– Stockholm World Water Week 2026 Session Outcome Report
– Operationalizing the WEFE Nexus for Climate-Resilient and Equitable Water Security in Asia
This session focused on Asia, examining how the water–energy–food–ecosystems (WEFE) nexus can help achieve Water for People, with an emphasis on moving from commitments and established policy concepts to practical implementation.
The case studies demonstrated that operationalizing the WEFE nexus requires combining data and evidence, cross-sectoral governance, integrated investment, local ownership, and digital technologies. They also highlighted a common challenge in scaling up the nexus: moving beyond identifying interlinkages and trade-offs to translating them into decisions, investments, and changes in institutions and behavior.

– Stockholm World Water Week 2026 Session Outcome Report
-Inclusive Basin Partnerships: Transforming Water Security Across Regions
Achieving water security, climate resilience, and healthy ecosystems requires integrated river basin management and collective water stewardship that connect upstream and downstream interests, align policies across sectors, and engage diverse stakeholders in coordinated action. This partnership-based approach is also at the heart of NoWNET—the Northern Water Network, which promotes knowledge exchange, multi-stakeholder collaboration, North–South cooperation, and collective action across regions.
Drawing on seven case studies from Africa, Asia, and Europe, this session examined how multi stakeholder partnerships, science-based decision-making, innovative financing, digital technologies, and inclusive governance can advance basin-scale solutions.
