– The Youth Water Forum Asia will be held on November 11th!

The Japan Water Forum is excited to announce the “Youth Water Forum Asia,” an international exchange event for the youth generation and high school students focusing on water, scheduled to commence at 2:30 PM on November 11th (Saturday).

This event is part of the newly initiated Capacity Development and Awareness Raising program “Youth Water Forum,” which began in the year 2021, following the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit (APWS) held in Kumamoto City in April 2022. This year, marking the third year of the program, we are thrilled to host this event for the first time.

At the event “Youth Water Forum Asia”, high school students from Indonesia, Japan and Korea will share information about water-related challenges and conservation efforts in their own nations, deepening their understanding and learning from each other.

– Voices of Sustainability: Japan’s Journey Through Water Management (Reposted)

We would like to introduce the exclusive interview with the late Vice President Prof. Norihito Tambo and Dr. Kotaro Takemura, Chair of JWF.

The interview article was published in March of the year that the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda came into force in 2016.

・Report from the Japan Water Forum
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
– APWF will serve as the coordinator of the Asia Pacific Regional Process of 10th World Water Forum with the AWC

The 10th World Water Forum will primarily center around a thematic, regional, and political process. The Asia-Pacific Water Forum (APWF), with the Japan Water Forum as its secretariat, has been officially designated to coordinate the “Asia-Pacific Regional Process” along with the Asia Water Council (AWC – Secretariat: K-Water).

During the opening ceremony of the 2nd Stakeholders Consultation Meeting (SCM) of the 10th World Water Forum on 12th – 13th October 2023, the World Water Council (WWC), the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (the co-host organization), the APWF, and AWC signed a Letter of Intent to support the organization of the 10th World Water Forum. Ms. Changhua Wu, Interim Chair of the APWF Governing Council (Vice Chair since 2013), signed the letter on behalf of APWF.

We will now prepare for the 10th World Water Forum in May 2024, incorporating insights and discussions from the 2nd SCM to ensure a successful event.

– AQUA PROGRAM 2022 Completed!

AQUA PROGRAM is a joint project between F.D.C. Products Inc. jewelry brand 4℃ and the Japan Water Forum. Its aim is to empower people in developing countries and bring them beauty and inspiration by resolving the serious water problems they face.

Since the program’s establishment in 2008, several projects have been carried out in the Republic of Kiribati, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Since 2017, we have been working in a rural community in Bangladesh.

In the 2022 project, AMAMIZU rainwater harvesting tanks were installed in 40 households and training in operations and maintenance skills was carried out.

– The outcomes of the 1st JWF Webinar 2023

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, we hosted the 1st JWF Webinar “Innovative Water Security Initiatives by Japanese Youth.”

We invited 3 members of the “Water Security Action Team (W-SAT),” dispatched abroad by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Hearing real stories from those actively engaged in the field was invaluable.

The recording of this webinar is accessible through the link below until October 27, 2023.
