What is the Youth Water Forum?

The “Youth Water Forum” is a human resources development project launched by the Japan Water Forum in 2021. It was initiated on the occasion of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit, held in Japan for the first time in 15 years in Kumamoto City in April 2022.

The Youth Water Forum will mark its fifth year of activity in 2025. In addition to the call for video submission, the Youth Water Forum has also held an international exchange event and presentations of videos and works. The main activities and achievements are as follows:

Participation and Presentations at International Conferences:

  • Participation in the UN 2023 Water Conference (New York) and held an official youth session.
  • High school students participated in the 10th World Water Forum (May 2024, Bali, Indonesia), one of the world’s largest international conferences on water. At a youth session we organized in the regional process, they presented their water-related activities in English to the world.

Hosting Symposiums:

  • Organized “Water Future Conference 2024,” a symposium for intergenerational, centered on the youth who will lead the future, to explore the future of water.

Hosting International Exchange Events:

  • Created opportunities for discussion and exchange by hosting international exchange events, “Youth Water Forum Asia 2024” where high school students from various countries shared the current status of water issues and their initiatives.
