– 4℃ AQUA PROGRAM 2022 started!

AQUA PROGRAM is a joint project with a jewelry brand “4℃” and Japan Water Forum.
It aims to bring “beauty” and “inspire” to the women in developing countries who face serious water and hygiene problems by addressing water issues.
Since it’s establishment in 2008, projects have been carried out in the Republic of Kiribati, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Unlike urban settings, water supply systems are absent in the rural areas of Bangladesh and it is less likely for the areas to have such systems implemented in near future. Therefore, people in the areas where the project is targeting at are relying on ponds and wells for drinking water. However, the quality of such water is not good and securing safe drinking water is hard to attain.

The project will install a rainwater harvesting system for each family of the targeting village, which enables storing rainwater for drinking purpose. Furthermore, the villagers will be trained to use, maintain and manage the system appropriately so that they can maintain the system for themselves.

The Japan Water Forum participated in the 12th World Water Congress & Exhibition organized by the International Water Association (IWA) held in Copenhagen, Denmark from September 11th (Sun) to 15th (Thu), 2022.

The JWF showcased Japan’s experience and advanced technologies related to dam upgrading and water resources management in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and JWF’s member companies. Also, we disseminated the information of the outcomes of the activities of the JWF Fund and the Youth Water Forum, which has been implemented by the Japan Water Forum, and the results of the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit held in Kumamoto City.

Throughout the duration, JWF’s booth was visited by people from various countries, including Asia and Africa, and it was an opportunity for them to be aware of Japan’s expertise in the field of infrastructure-related technologies on water resources management.
