1.Follow-up observations

The Japan Water Forum Fund (JWF Fund ) is a program aimed at assisting projects led by grass-roots organizations dealing with local water and hygiene problems in developing countries. Since 2015, we have been carrying out follow-up observations a few years after completion of our projects, in order to understand changing issues and needs regarding local problems.

In FY2025, the JWF received favorable responses to its requests for follow-up observations from four of the five grass-roots organizations: two in Uganda, one in Indonesia, and one in Cameroon, all of which were JWF Fund 2023 recipients. Thanks to their cooperation, we were able to conduct our follow-up observations successfully.

  • Water-borne diseases have decreased since completion of the projects.
  • There have been positive changes in hygiene behavior of not only the projects’ direct beneficiaries, but of the entire communities, and even among residents of neighboring villages.

4.Conclusion

The main priority of Japan Water Forum’s supporting activity is responding to onsite issues and needs in an efficient and effective way. By learning about the effects of our completed projects, with the cooperation of our local partners, we will be able to improve implementation of future JWF Fund projects.
