– Condolences

The Japan Water Forum expresses its most profound sorrow upon receiving the news of the passing of Mr. Ravi Narayanan, former Chair (2013–2022) and former Vice Chair (2006–2013) of the Governing Council of the Asia-Pacific Water Forum (APWF).

Mr. Narayanan played a pivotal role in establishing and developing the APWF. Under his visionary leadership, he effectively amplified the voices of vulnerable grassroots communities across the Asia-Pacific to the international community. He consistently advocated for concrete, practical solutions to water security challenges at the highest-level international forum, including the First through Fourth Asia-Pacific Water Summits.

He also served for many years as an Advisory Council Member of the Japan Water Forum. During that time, he provided dedicated support and insightful guidance not only to APWF activities but also to grassroots initiatives. His contributions were invaluable to the deepening and advancement of the Japan Water Forum’s work.

Mr. Narayanan was a sincere and devoted leader who placed great importance on open dialogue and never hesitated to offer thoughtful and constructive advice. The Japan Water Forum is truly honored to have had the opportunity to work alongside him to address global water challenges, particularly in Asia and the Pacific.

We hereby extend our heartfelt condolences and pray for the peaceful repose of Mr. Narayanan’s soul. We also extend our deepest sympathies to his family and to all those associated with him.
