Last Meeting of the National Steering Committee

Secretary General, Hideaki Oda

The 7th Meeting of the National Steering Committee was held in Tokyo on November 28. Upon conclusion of this meeting, National Steering Committee completed all of its roles. The chairman, Mr. Hashimoto, and the members of the committee have provided us considerable guidance throughout the way. The closing remarks of Mr. Hashimoto truly touched my heart. I would like to thank them very much.

We also received so many people at the meeting that people were almost overflowing from the room. I felt the high level of interest in the "Japan Water Forum". We will make effort to ensure that the administrative preparations are steadily advanced, so that the founder's meeting of Japan Water Forum scheduled for early next year will be a fruitful one.

7th Meeting of the National Steering Committee

This was the first meeting of the National Steering Committee held since the completion of the Forum in March. 12 committee members including the chairman, Mr. Hashimoto, and 120 observers attended the meeting.

The main topics of the meeting included the final reporting of the 3rd World Water Forum and the establishment of Japan Water Forum. During the meeting, it was approved that the Japan Water Forum would become the succeeding organization of the Secretariat of the 3rd World Water Forum. It will maintain and further develop the networks cultivated through the Forum, support the Japanese water related organizations in their domestic and international activities, and conduct follow-up activities of the Forum succeeded from the Secretariat. The 3-year activity of the National Steering Committee was successfully completed upon the conclusion of the meeting.
