The 3rd World Water Forum Osaka Days Opening Ceremony

"The 3rd World Water Forum" opens yesterday in Lake Biwa and Yodo River Basin, connecting Kyoto, Shiga and Osaka. Osaka Days, starting on March 18th for two days, will be held at Osaka International Convention Center (OICC; Grand Cube Osaka) and will consist of 6 major themes and 60 sessions.

Osaka Days Opening Ceremony will be held jointly with the Opening Plenary of Water in Cities at Main Hall of OICC. Japanese Drums and Bunraku Puppets performances titled 2Welcome Osaka" will start at 9:45 preceding the opening.

  • Opening remarks by His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt and President of the World Water Council
  • Greetings by Mr. Fidel V. Ramos, Former President of The Republic of Philippines
  • Greetings by Ms. Fusae Ota, Governor of Osaka Prefecture
  • "Water and Cities" Theme Opening Address by Mrs. Anna Kajumulo Tibaijuka, Executive Director of United Nations Centres for Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat)
